Organic farming

Organic farming, or organic agriculture uses production practices that allow the use of natural pesticides and fertilizers, but generally disallows the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Foods certified organic must meet specific production standards as defined by the country’s recognized organic certifying body. In the case of the United States the standards are determined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Organic Program.
